Main area Emergency Medicine Grade NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant Contract Permanent Hours Full time - 10 PA's Job ref 409-3018608 Site Whiston Hospital Town Prescot Salary £82,096 - £110,683 per annum (YM72) Closing 28/04/2021 23:59 St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to appoint a new Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join its team of 12 consultants. Whiston is the busiest ED in Cheshire and Merseyside with over 110,000 new attendances per annum (approx 25,000 children). The hospital is an 800 bed general hospital with all core specialties and is the regional Centre for Burns and Plastics as well as being a designated Trauma Unit. It has recently been awarded a rating of Outstanding by the CQC and was voted the best Trust in the NHS at this year’s HSJ awards. The Emergency department prides itself on delivering high quality up to date clinical care and has a comprehensive governance, audit and educational programme. As a teaching hospital the department delivers clinical education to Liverpool University medical students and is also affiliated with the school of Emergency Medicine providing training to doctors of all grades. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and educational supervision and will be supported in developing interests relevant to the specialty. This is a full time 10 PA post initially offering an additional 2PA (as detailed in the job plan within the JD – additional PA’s may be subject to change to support service need). The post offers 7.5 – 9.5 direct clinical care (DCC) sessions and 2.5 Supporting professional activities (SPA). The successful post holder will be expected to contribute approximately 1 evening session per week of shopfloor cover, plus 1:6 weekends (combination of shopfloor cover and on-call) and contribute to an ED consultant on-call rota. The Trust is committed to the delivery of high quality patient care and works to support the ED in achieving the A&E four hour standard target. Clinicians are heavily involved in the management of the hospital and this facilitates a sound and friendly working environment. Applicants must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment. Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register via one of the following: 1) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
(The proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) 2) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
