The post holder will report to the Principal Clinical Psychologist and will work within the established multi-disciplinary specialist teams which include Diabetes, Respiratory, Epilepsy and Complex Health Needs. Through exposure via MDT clinics and meetings it is envisaged that a clinical caseload of children and young people requiring clinical psychology support will be established. Children and young people with life-limiting illnesses such as Diabetes, Respiratory Disease, Epilepsy and Complex Health Needs are supported by sub speciality multi-disciplinary teams. These teams are Consultant Paediatrician led with support from Clinical Nurse Specialists, Dietitians and Physiotherapists. The Clinical Psychologist will complement and enhance the care provided by these sub-specialty teams. This post is an autonomous specialist role to meet the needs of children and young people and their families who are living with long term and life limiting illnesses. The Paediatric Department provides a family centred service to well, sick and/or premature newborns and to children and young people aged up to 16 years. The service is up to 18 years for young people with diabetes or mental health issues. The service is Consultant led and provided on an inpatient, outpatient and outreach basis. The post holder will be based within the hospital working, within a unit which consists of 29 inpatient beds spread across 2 inpatient wards including a 2 bedded HDU, 8 Bedded Children’s Observation area (CHOBs) accommodating direct GP admissions, the Paediatric Day Unit accommodating paediatric phlebotomy/investigations and a 15 cot Special Care Baby Unit. This post is required to have recent relevant clinical psychology experience and must be a clinical expert, competent at ensuring children young people and their families receive safe, high quality, optimum care from staff who feel valued and that they are an essential part of the team. The post holder is also required to be competent at safeguarding children and implementing the Child in Need and Child Protection procedures as appropriate. As part of this role, appropriate clinical supervision will be supported. Please note, interviews may include assessment tasks. Interviews will take place week commencing 19th April 2021.
