Structural Soils Limited, a member of RSK Group plc, is a 250-strong site investigation contractor. It is further supported by a fully accredited UKAS laboratory and together with the Geosciences business unit of RSK, the company makes RSK Group one of the UK’s largest site investigation service providers. We are now looking to recruit a Stores Person to join the team at our laboratory in Castleford, West Yorkshire. This is a full-time position working 40 hours each week, Monday to Friday.

Stores Person – Castleford

Key Duties and Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

Sample receipt from both internal contracts and external laboratory only contracts, including manual handling of samples up to 25kg.
Sample packaging integrity check and rectification/reporting management.
Following sample handling requirements.
Logging of samples into a database.
Retrieval of samples to laboratory testing areas upon request and return of partially used samples to sample store.
Packaging of samples for transport to external testing laboratories.
Disposal of samples once contracts are completed.
Maintaining an orderly stores area and entry yard, with high attention to avoiding trip hazards, removing waste and used materials, keeping dust levels at acceptable levels.
Reporting any issues with the sample store, e.g. temperature fluctuations, capacity issues.
Overseeing any staff assisting with the sample store systems.
Assisting with sample anomaly checks and attending/co-operating with internal and external audits requirements for the sample store.

Desired experience

We are interested in hearing from candidates who have previous stores experience. There will be lots of manual handling involved in the role and work will require moving heavy items on a frequent basis.
