We’re currently looking for a Support Worker in Westbury Park, Bristol where our Aurora Hyde Lodge living and learning environment; supports young adults with severe and complex learning difficulties. Hyde Lodge:

It is the Support Worker /Learning Assistants role to provide the young people with every opportunity to develop the skills they desire. We need Support Workers/Learning Assistants who can think outside the box when it comes to developing the skills of our young people. Each week the residents go out shopping, horse riding, music therapy, pet therapy and so much more. They are also encouraged to do all of their own cooking, cleaning and washing so you must be willing and able to guide and support our young people in these tasks. Key Responsibilities: Ensure all young adults receive a high standard of care whilst living and learning in a safe, clean and homely environment. Encourage our young adults to be as active as they can be in their local community; Empower and support our young adults to try new things and do the things they really want to do. Facilitate a wide range of fun activities throughout the day and proactively contribute to the individual support plans we have in pace for each individual that continually promotes choice and independence. Naturally; you’ll understand what ‘good care’ looks like, be able to articulate and promote this; ensuring that any problems with the care/safety/environment are reported and escalated if necessary. With full training and continued support you will take responsibility for the care of their clothes, bedrooms, personal belongings and ensure that all their medical needs are met at all times including the administering and recording of prescribed medication. The role may require participation in physical intervention and personal care routines. Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate: Willingness to learn and to go the extra mile. Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible. Exceptional communication skills and patience. Willingness to work towards achieving Level 2 apprenticeship or equivalent for Adults (funded by us). Experience working within special needs and/or support/care roles (either in a paid or personal environment) – highly desirable but not essential. A robust, positive and creative approach in meeting the needs of young adults. Good interpersonal, communication and team working skills. Able to work within the parameters of the physical demands of the job role. Be able to work within a rota pattern (which includes evenings, weekends and some unsocial hours).
