Pertemps are recruiting for an HR Advisor to work on an assignment at our well known Public Sector client based in Edinburgh.

£32,238 to £37,962
Starting ASAP for 3 months possible extension
37 hours per week
Working from home

To organise and administer the end-to-end recruitment and selection process and, working as part of the HR & OD team, to deliver a comprehensive, efficient, and professional HR service to support and advise managers and staff throughout the business.

Main Duties: Organise and administer the end-to-end recruitment and selection process for appointments up to senior grades, ensuring compliance with all necessary procedures and advising on selection decisions and salary recommendations. Provide professional advice to managers on employment matters in line with company policies, procedures and practices, consulting the Head of HR where necessary and for the more complex cases. Among other things this includes: Supporting managers to take responsibility for early intervention when dealing with issues such as capability, disciplinary, dignity at work and absence management Provide advice and guidance to managers to help them identify the best course of action in these cases and to follow it through to achieve early effective resolution Supporting formal investigation and hearing processes to ensure they follow agreed policies and procedures and take account of developing best practice in HR. Guide and advise Council staff on HR policy and procedure and relevant employment legislation requirements which impact on their role and responsibilities. Develop and draft policy proposals to reflect business needs and legislative change for consideration by senior management, engaging the recognised trade union representatives and wider staff as appropriate. Skills: Experience in managing the end-to-end recruitment and selection process (i.e. job adverts, shortlisting, interviewing, making job offers). Broad experience demonstrating a proven track record of providing wide-ranging, accurate generalist HR advice and guidance to managers and employees. An understanding of employment law and its application, and experience of applying this in the workplace through policies, procedures and provision of advice. Sound understanding of the role of HR in supporting individual and organisational performance. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
